Yes. You should not attempt the full gorge descent without an experienced guide. Trail markers are sparse. The drops are steep, and the volcanic paths are very slippery.
The popular half-day guided loop covers 4-5 waterfalls over 3-4 kilometers. It takes 3-4 hours. The full-day hike encompasses all 7 main cascades across more rugged terrain and takes 5-6 hours.

Even it was raining a bit, the trip was absolutely awesome especially because of the guide Cedric. He is just a funny and freindly guy which can explain a lot of interesting things from the native nature and as well as the history of Mauritius. All in all, a beautiful trip and we would book it any time again.
We had a fantastic tour with our guide Ethan. We were a little group of five persons and our guide perfectly tailored the pace to our needs. He showed us the best spots and ever had a helping hand at the tricky sections of the trip. On the top he explained us many details of the beautiful and impressive nature of Mauritius. So it was a wonderful trip and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you!
Rowin guided a group of 8 of us, ranging from teenagers to parents in their 40-50s! He was brilliant at catering for mixed abilities and was very knowledgeable about the area and the falls. I can honestly say that Rowin made it the best day we had in Mauritius! I would highly recommend the excursion and Rowin as our guide!
